Intel is skating in semolina with its ARC graphics chips. More than a month after their launch on laptopthese GPUs remain mostly untraceable… and their driver updates are also long overdue.

Just before the weekend, VideoCardz reminded our fond memories of an unfulfilled promise from Intel. The firm had assured that it would be able to deploy a driver update for its first ARC GPUs at the end of April. Unfortunately, she is still waiting.

Intel ARC, laborious beginnings including software

As the specialized site reminds us, this update must in particular provide an option making it possible to deactivate the optimizations specific to the benchmarks. Without this option, Intel’s chips benefit from optimizations that significantly advantage them over 3DMark (15% performance gain). The results thus obtained are however not validated by the utility, which considers them as truncated.

As it stands, the latest driver deployed for Intel ARC chips is dated April 8 and responds to number 1330. It is difficult to know when Intel will decide to launch the next update, which has been awaited for almost two weeks. from now on. As it stands, the firm unfortunately reinforces its reputation as a snail in terms of software monitoring.
