It’s official, OnePlus will release an inexpensive connected watch inspired by the Apple Watch

The Chinese firm has just teased its first OnePlus Nord Watch on its site. We guess a design close to the Apple Watch even if the functionalities should be very far from it.

It goes without saying that the OnePlus Watch did not convince us. Under its air of connected watches, it integrated very few functionalities, closer to a connected bracelet with the price of a watch. The fact that OnePlus is today formalizing the upcoming release of a OnePlus Nord Watch can therefore be taken as good news, in that the Nord range necessarily implies a more accessible price positioning, which would rather stick to the direction taken by the brand to his watches.

On its official website, we can read “OnePlus Nord Watch, coming soon”accompanied by a slogan “Get moving”which would confirm the desire for the brand to offer an activity bracelet with a watch screen.

A design immersed in the shadows that says a lot

Because yes, the design that we are left to guess leaves little room for interpretation, despite the fact that we only see half of it. Indeed, we can very clearly distinguish an inspiration (to put it politely) from the Apple Watch, with a square case and a rotating crown located on the right.

By the way, the borders look relatively wide compared to Apple Watch since series 7. We also imagine that the case, despite its silver color, should not be made of metal. Entry-level watches are generally content with composite materials such as polymer fiber or other.

Moreover, in terms of functionality, it is hard to imagine OnePlus correcting the shooting of its first smart watch by integrating new uses on a more accessible bracelet. The price, still unknown, should however help it to better find its positioning.

The release date, you will have noticed, is still unknown. Some sites like GSM Arena advance a release date in September or early October.
