Corning has officially confirmed the integration of Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the Samsung Galaxy S23, S23 Plus and S23 Ultra. This new generation of reinforced glass will notably make it possible to withstand falls… onto concrete.
Technical data, price, handling, ultra-efficient digital zoom: the Galaxy S23, S23 Plus and S23 Ultra – like previous generations – were the subject of major leaks several months before their release. The weeks leading up to their official release are usually very intense, with the latest details revealed here and there.
While waiting for their scheduled introduction on February 1 at an Unpacked event, Corning has confirmed another technical feature planned for the three new Samsung flagships: the presence of Gorilla Glass Victus 2, a brand new generation of reinforced glass presented in November 2022.

As is usually the case, the new Galaxy S are often the first to benefit from Corning’s advances. Why ? Because they are the first batch of high-end phones at the passage of a new vintage. In January, no premium phone is presented.

So what will the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 bring? Inevitably, better resistance to falls. In November, Corning claimed that its glass had “survived drops of up to one meter onto a concrete-like surface“. A good way to avoid drama and preserve a screen during a fall.

Only one question remains as to its integration on the Galaxy S23: will the back side benefit from it as much as the front side? Or only the screen will benefit? Corning’s press release does not elaborate. Rest assured: this was indeed the case on the Galaxy S22. Hope is therefore allowed for the S23.
