It’s one of the best Marvel movies, but many don’t know it has a version that’s 40 minutes longer.

Did you know that a famous Marvel movie, acclaimed for its quality, had an extra 40 minutes long version? This is the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse animated film.

With $375.5 million raised worldwide, including 790,778 admissions from France, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is a financial success, but above all, it is one of the highest-rated animated films of all. sites, including AlloCiné, on which it is 4.37/5, with more than 9600 votes! But did you know that there is a longer version?

Indeed, a version of the animated film created by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller has more than 25 additional minutes! Be careful though, because they only exist on the Blu-ray of the feature film. There is an “alternate universe” version in the bonuses which takes the feature film no longer to 117, but to 143 minutes!

Among these restored minutes, we find in particular a character very withdrawn from the main feature film, Ganke Lee. In this alternate version, like the rest in the comics, Ganke is Miles’ best friend. A good-natured character, he highlighted the hero of the film very well.

Ganke and Miles

His virtual disappearance in the film is no doubt due to the prominent presence of a version of the character in the Spider-Man trilogy with Tom Holland (under the name of Ned Leeds), the first opus of which was released a year before New Generation. Moreover, his original design represented him physically a little closer to the version of the comics.

We also find within these additional minutes a short film dedicated to Spider-Pig; but also an appearance (audio) of Tom Cruise and James Cameron! Because yes, in the universe of Miles Morales, there is a Spider-Man film directed by Cameron in which the hero of Top Gun embodies the Spider-Man.

To find Miles in his wacky and visually impressive new adventures, see you in May 2023 for the release of Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse! And to wait, here is the first trailer:
