Klopp celebrates record victory – and digs at BVB star

On the fourth day of the game there is finally the first win for Liverpool FC. After nine goals against Bournemouth, coach Jurgen Klopp is in high spirits and singles out a former Bundesliga pro. This could soon get company if the Reds agree with Borussia Dortmund.
With a glance at the clock and a broad grin, Jürgen Klopp addressed the cheering Liverpool FC fans on Sunday. “It’s still early. Let’s go out and have a nice weekend,” said the German team manager after the Reds’ redeeming 9-0 (5-0) record victory against the completely overwhelmed promoted AFC Bournemouth.
But the first win of the season was also the starting point for a “perfect weekend” for the 55-year-old coach and his team. Because the success against the league newcomer was an important turning point in the young season. “We’re back in the table and not too far away from the other clubs,” said Klopp, who didn’t want to know about having survived a crisis. Because in the previous weeks “you could see a lot of good things in training that we didn’t get on the pitch,” reported the coach. It was completely different against Bournemouth.
“Everything was pretty much perfect”
After just over half an hour, the hosts were leading 4-0, and in the end it was Liverpool’s biggest win in Premier League history. Record champions Manchester United (1995 and 2021) and Leicester City (2019) also won games 9-0 in the English elite class. After the false start with two points from three games and the 1: 2 in the rain at archrival Manchester United, his professionals shot away the frustration of the past few weeks. “From catastrophe to carnival” is how the British newspaper “The Times” described it. “Everything was pretty much perfect,” said Klopp.
The 55-year-old didn’t have any doubts about his team despite their mixed performances in the new season. Even if there are always failures or suspensions and Sadio Mané’s departure to FC Bayern hurts. “You have to turn a few other screws, that’s our job,” he explained – with the goal gala against Bournemouth as the result. “We all know we needed something like this,” said Klopp. “It was a perfect football afternoon for us.”
Former Hoffenheimer Roberto Firmino played a large part in this with two goals and three assists. “He makes the difference for us,” said the Liverpool coach and raved about the “outstanding” Brazilian: “Top, top.” Another Bundesliga star could play on Merseyside next year. There is said to be an oral agreement with Dortmund’s top midfielder Jude Bellingham.
