In partnership with Lenovo, UL Benchmarks is deploying a new tool within its famous 3DMark : Speed Way.
This new benchmark allows you to push a graphics card to its limits, since it includes in the tests various features of DirectX 12 Ultimate, but also real-time ray tracing and global illumination.
The Ultimate Benchmark?
Announced casually last February, Speed Way is finally making its debut on 3DMark. After a new test for Intel’s XeSS, UL’s benchmark solution now faces DirectX 12 Ultimate, ray tracing and global illumination.
DirectX 12 Ultimate features included in Speed Way include mesh shaders and variable shading, aimed at optimizing performance and visual quality.
The other major part of this new test is of course the ray tracing and the global illumination which display different scenes giving pride of place to reflections and lighting. Partnership with Lenovo obliges, we will find here and there references to Legion, the gaming subsidiary of the brand.
Speed Way thus includes different modes, such as a versus mode. This allows you to compare your results with other users, who can then be included in a ranking. An interactive mode is also included. It gives the possibility to freely explore a given scene and adjust many parameters to really test the capabilities of its configuration.
Already available on the UL website and Steam
Speed Way is thus accessible where 3DMark is available, namely the official UL website, cited in source below, or Steam. To take advantage of this new test, however, you will have to upgrade to the Advanced Edition, priced at 33.99 euros.
However, 3DMark owners can access Speed Way via a form of DLC, this time offered at 3.99 euros, provided however that they have a relatively recent license, due to the integration of DirectX 12. There is also a Professional Edition with an annual license.
Please note that due to a change in Steam policy, the purchase of the standalone version of the Advanced Edition of 3DMark on the Valve platform now makes it impossible to add Speed Way to your account.
