The Ivorians converted all their shots on goal, while Senegalese Moussa Niakhaté sent his to Yahia Fofana’s right post. The vice-captain of the host country team, Franck Kessié, signed the victory by converting the last penalty.
Humiliated by Equatorial Guinea on Monday January 22 (0-4) then miraculously qualified after Morocco’s victory against Zambia (1-0) on Wednesday January 24, the Elephants experienced a tumultuous competition with the resignation of their coach, Jean-Louis Gasset, then the possible arrival, ultimately aborted, of Hervé Renard.
