With good reason, the late Tweetbot had its admirers. Among these, many who are annoyed by Elon Musk’s takeover of their fetish network are trying their hand at Mastodon. They will be happy to learn that the developers at Tapbots have launched Ivory, an extremely well done Mastodon client, notably available on iOS.
Because yes, unlike Elon Musk’s Twitter, Mastodon allows the use of alternative clients. Developed in haste, Ivory certainly only has essential functions for the time being, but Tapots indicates that it wants to quickly enrich the possibilities of its application by following an already detailed roadmap. We learn that we will soon be able to edit our profile and modify our publications (for free), and that other platforms will soon be supported.
Free trial, but paying customer
In the opinion of its alpha users, Ivory fulfills its role perfectly and has the advantage of erasing some of the interface quirks of Mastodon, which — as a decentralized platform — can be a bit of an abstract network to tackle.
But beware, this is a paid application ($1.99 per month, $14.99 per year) which, in its free version, remains blocked in “read only”. Free version which remains a good way to try Ivory to see if you like the user interface, knowing that you can also opt for a free trial week by having access to all the functions. Compatible with iOS Family Sharing, up to five users can use Ivory with a single paid account.
