New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has had to postpone her wedding due to the corona pandemic.

Jacinda Ardern (41) has to postpone her wedding because of an omicron outbreak. That’s what the New Zealand Prime Minister said on January 23 communicated during a press conference. “My wedding will not take place,” said the 41-year-old. She is having a similar experience to many other New Zealanders during the pandemic.

Ardern is with her longtime partner Clarke Gayford (44). A spokesman had confirmed in 2019 that the two had gotten engaged at Easter. Their daughter Neve was born in 2018. When exactly the wedding was originally supposed to take place is not known.

She asks citizens to get boosters

After an outbreak of the omicron variant of the corona virus, New Zealand is tightening the corona measures. “Our strategy is to slow the spread of omicron,” Ardern explained. Among other things, the number of participants allowed at events will be reduced. And work from the home office is also desirable. The plan is simple: as many people as possible should get boosters and wear masks indoors and outdoors if a distance to other people cannot be maintained.
