For the 15th anniversary of Twitter, co-founder Jack Dorsey auctioned his first tweet for a good cause.

On March 21, 2006, Twitter co-founder and software developer Jack Dorsey (44) posted his first tweet. For the 15th anniversary, he now auctioned the entry on the “Valuables by Cent” platform. The final bid is a little over 2.9 million US dollars, the equivalent of around 2.4 million euros. The tweet was bought by Sina Estavi, CEO of the blockchain company Bridge Oracle.

In 2006, Dorsey tweeted just five short words: “just setting up my twttr”. He recently announced that he would convert the winnings into bitcoins after the auction and donate it to GiveDirectly. The organization offers, among other things, Corona emergency aid in Africa.

Converted to bitcoins

Estavi thanked them via Twitter at Dorsey that he had accepted his offer. He is happy that “this money is going to a charitable cause”. The Twitter co-founder meanwhile tweeted a confirmationthat the sum had been converted into 50.8751669 Bitcoins and donated. At the same time he thanked Estavi.
