Jacques Legros “tired”: the journalist confides in his general condition after the death of Jean-Pierre Pernaut

This Thursday, March 17, 2022, Jacques Legros granted an interview to Télé-Loisirs. Fifteen days after the death of Jean-Pierre Pernaut, the journalist agreed to lift the veil on his general condition.

Difficult weeks… While he is currently replacing Marie-Sophie Lacarrau, Jacques Legros had the difficult task of presenting the 1 p.m. newspaper of TF1 the day after the death of Jean-Pierre Pernaut. Moved, the one who was the star’s joker for twenty-five years said: “Since yesterday a shadow has been hanging over this 1 p.m. newspaper, that of Jean-Pierre Pernaut, who created it, who embodied it for more than 30 years and who therefore left us yesterday at only 71 years old. We think of him, we think of his family and this edition is of course dedicated to him.“Upset, he added:”He was our, your, guest every day at 1 p.m., you were happy to invite him to your home. We will devote a large page to the presenter that he was, but not only. The disappearance of Jean-Pierre Pernaut shocked us all.

In an interview given to Tele-Leisure, Jacques Legros assured to be tired. “Let’s say that we are not dealing with an easy time… We are coming out of more than two years of Covid. Then there is the war in Ukraine which has arrived and which is an absolute horror. Then Jean-Pierre who leaves us, poor thing… Yes, it’s starting to do a lot“, he let go. However, the journalist did not set a date for leaving the television news. He indeed assured: “Things will happen naturally if my health permits, because at 70, I enter a ‘zone of turbulence.’ With Jean-Pierre, we were practically the same age. When they get tired of me, they’ll tell me. What I don’t want is to do the newspaper too much. And I can assure you that I will leave on tiptoe.

Jacques Legros: “I can’t cheat, I have my emotions”

The day before, the journalist had already evoked with emotion his reaction on learning of the death of Jean-Pierre Pernaut. “I experienced it as a punch, an ‘uppercut.’ We knew he wasn’t doing well, but we weren’t ready for that… We had a special bond, because I was his joker for 25 years. The info fell around 5 p.m. I immediately called my wife to tell her ‘Jean-Pierre is dead.’ But we had to react quickly, because we had a newspaper to prepare for the next day.“, he confided. Recalling this very special newspaper, he added: “I was told that I had a dirty head, that I seemed very tense. It’s true that we were all exhausted because we were destroyed. Honestly, I did the journal with closed fists. The hardest part was the day of the funeral. Because there was an infinite sadness. It was hard, it was hard… I’m a man, I can’t cheat, I have my emotions. But we still had to hold the boat. It was all the complexity of this JT.
