Jacques Martin: how his son Daniel was hard hit by his parents’ divorce

This Friday, April 29, Daniel Martin was invited on the set of C à vous, on France 5 to discuss the unpublished documentary on his father. The opportunity for him to confide in the divorce of his parents.

On May 4, a new documentary on the life of Jacques Martin will be broadcast on Paris Premiere. On this occasion, his son, Daniel was invited on the set of It’s up to you, surrounded by Danièle Evenou, Virginie Lemoine and Frédéric Zeitoun. The eldest of the Martin siblings then confided in his childhood memories, after a remark by Mohamed Bouhafsi: “He also went on show all over France and you tell David that these are your first happy memories with him”, explains the journalist.

Indeed, Daniel Martin remembers the divorce of his parents. A very difficult time: “Yes, really, I’m the eldest. I was born in Strasbourg at the time of the Barabli (a Strasbourg performance hall, editor’s note.). Mum was there, she took care of me, Elise (his sister, editor’s note.) had not yet been born. And it was not very fashionable, it was complicated, it was not like today”, he explains. But when Jacques Martin came to pick him up, little David immediately found a smile. : “So my father took us when he could. And when he could, in spite of everything, there was work, the tour. He took me by the hand, we got in the car, off we went. And then me.. When you’re eight years old, it’s fantastic…”.

Daniel Martin: “Don’t you realize, it’s a city every night, every night, a different hotel”

For Daniel and Jacques Martin, freedom was then at the end of their journey: “You don’t realize, it’s a city every night, every night, a different hotel. And of course, the set, the theaters in which he played”. Visibly moved to evoke his childhood memories, the one who is passionate about cooking, keeps happy memories with his father, even if sometimes, the separation of his parents was difficult to live with.
