One of the possibilities offered by electrified vehicles is to increase the capacity of the battery by adding additional cells in order to gain autonomy. This is the case with the 2023 vintage of the Jaguar F-Pace P400e, the British brand’s plug-in hybrid SUV (PHEV).
The P400e will be equipped with a new battery of 19.2 kWh (gross capacity), or 15.39 kWh in useful capacity, allowing the SUV to cover 65 km in the city in all-electric mode, compared to 53 km previously. This extra capacity has made it possible to lower (on paper) CO2 emissions to 37 g/km and to contain the combined fuel consumption at 1.6 l/100 km, according to the measurement carried out on the WLTP cycle. We will of course carry out our own measurements as soon as we have the opportunity.
With 2.23 tons on the scale, the weight, on the other hand, is high, but the power is to match with 404 hp and a torque of 640 Nm, for a maximum speed of 240 km/h.
With this new vintage, the Jaguar manufacturer has decided to simplify its range, which will be available through the R-Dynamic S, R-Dynamic SE, R-Dynamic HSE and SVR versions. They’re mated to a range of powertrains including a 404-hp four-cylinder petrol plug-in hybrid (PHEV), a 204-hp four-cylinder mild-hybrid diesel (MHEV), a 300-hp six-cylinder diesel MHEV and the (very nasty ) SVR version of 550 horsepower 5.0 l V8 (petrol).
In addition, all finishes will benefit from the same instrument cluster. It is a 13.7-inch screen (34.8 cm diagonal), consisting of two counters separated by a customizable space on which all driving information, media or maps are displayed.
The central 13.1-inch screen (33.3 cm diagonal) supports the in-house Pivi Pro infotainment, which has the particularity of being powered by an independent battery. In this way, once the door is opened, the screen lights up without having to switch on the ignition. Its layout on the dashboard is however not at eye level. Equipped with haptic controls, it is compatible with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto.
As for voice recognition, it is entrusted to Alexa from Amazon. Just say “Alexa” to activate it or press the dedicated button on the screen. Its field of action is rather vast and allows you to control all the infotainment (weather, news, road traffic, etc.), to pass and receive calls, plan a route or find the nearest restaurant. If the smartphone is not required for Alexa, an Amazon account will still be required.
For the moment, the British manufacturer has not communicated the prices of this new vintage.
