Our electric and thermal cars are no longer just simple machines with wheels transporting us from point A to point B. Over time, they have become real technological objects in which manufacturers add a plethora of sensors and assistance systems of all kinds.

Undoubtedly, the 2020 decade will focus on autonomous driving. Tesla has also given impetus to a new dynamic and dreams of cars capable of driving themselves. The promises made a few years ago are not necessarily kept, but the heart is there to meet the ambitions of Elon Musk.

2025 target

It is in this context that Jaguar also wishes to participate in this race, surrounding itself with Nvidia as part of a strategic partnership that has just been made official. The idea being to develop and produce next-generation autonomous driving systems and AI-enabled services and experiences”.

The press release dwells more on Nvidia technologies and their field of intervention. For example, the DRIVE Orin system will oversee all vehicle computing, while the DRIVE AV and DRIVE IX software will manage safety systems, network security and environmental sensors.

Level 3 autonomous driving

According toCoach, Jaguar will seek to achieve level 3 autonomous driving. In this case, a vehicle is able to move on its own in certain conditions, such as on the highway for example. But the driver must be able to regain control at any time.

Today, some cars are already hovering between levels 2 and 3. However, it’s never too late to get up to speed.
