Jailed separatist Yvan Colonna dead after attack

(dpa) The Corsican separatist Yvan Colonna died after a three-week coma as a result of an attack by a fellow prisoner. As the French news agency AFP reported with reference to his lawyer, he died on Monday evening in a hospital in Marseille. The 61-year-old was attacked and critically injured in prison in Arles, southern France, in early March. Colonna was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1998 for the murder of the prefect of Corsica.
