James Bond: Liam Neeson refused to play 007 several times and the reason is tasty

In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Liam Neeson reveals that he was contacted several times in the 90s to play James Bond. But he declined, and the reason and tasty.

While speculation continues around the identity of who will replace Daniel Craig in the impeccable costume of Agent 007, at least we know that it will not be Liam Neeson. Or rather, to be more exact, the actor refused the role of James Bond.

In a recent interview with the magazine RollingStonewhile he was promoting his new film, Marlowe, the actor reveals that he was contacted several times by producer Barbara Broccoli in the 1990s to play the secret agent.

Neeson, fresh off his Oscar nomination in 1994 for his performance in Schindler’s List, has declined one of the most iconic roles. The reason ? She is fond of her wife, actress Natascha Richardson, who died in 2009.

“I know the Broccoli. They were looking for several actors at the time. Schindler’s List had just come out, and Barbara called me several times to ask if I was interested. And I said, ‘Yes, I would be interested!”

My dear wife, may her soul rest in peace, said to me, while we were shooting the movie nell : “Liam, I warn you: if you play James Bond, there will be no marriage between us!”

On the set of Nell, the actor teased his future wife about it, “coming up behind her, miming a pistol with my fingers, and humming the theme music from James Bond. I loved doing that!”

He adds : “She gave me a james bondesque ultimatum. And she was serious! I mean, there are all these beautiful women from all over the world who come in and out of her bed. his decision rested on that!”
