James Bond: No time to die: streaming services want to lure 007 to themselves

Secret agent on Her Majesty's streaming service? There is no shortage of interested parties for "James Bond: No Time to Die" outside of the cinema.

The 25th appearance of James Bond has been postponed so often that nasty tongues even mocked that Daniel Craig (52) farewell to "No Time to Die" would probably never make it to the cinema. But what started out as prophecies of doom has now actually been discussed. The US news magazine "Bloomberg" reported that both the streaming service Apple TV + and Netflix had obtained information from the MGM film studio about a million-dollar acquisition of the anniversary "Bond".

According to the report, however, these discussions were quickly ended by the film studio. "No time to die" is not for sale, so the reasoning. One was still determined to bring the film out as it was planned from the start: "The release of the film was postponed to April 2021 in order to guarantee the audience the cinema experience," an MGM spokesman is quoted as saying.

Was there $ 600 million in the room?

The US site "Variety" paints a slightly different picture. It is reported here that MGM has thought about a sale. The site even mentions an alleged price tag: interested parties would have had to pay at least 600 million US dollars (around 507 million euros) in order to secure the services of the double zero agent exclusively. Ultimately, however, no deal came off.

Hard to believe, but originally "No Time to Die" should have hit theaters in November 2019. After a change of director and other incidents, April 2020 was chosen as the starting month. As the first big blockbuster, the new "Bond" was postponed because of the corona pandemic, initially to autumn of the same year, but now to the beginning of 2021. However, German fans of 007 can look forward to it. In the meantime it has been announced that "No Time to Die" in this country will be released on March 31st, a few days earlier than elsewhere (April 2nd).
