James Drury: The Western star died at the age of 85

Hardly any other actor took on the role of the cool cowboy like him. Now the American actor James Drury has died at the age of 85 in his adopted home Houston in the state of Texas. This was announced by her spokeswoman Karen Lindsey to the "Hollywood Reporter". The New Yorker was especially loved for his portrayal of the taciturn lead role Virginian in the cult western series "The People of the Shiloh Ranch" – in a total of 249 episodes from 1962 to 1971.

The star of Drury opened in the 1950s when it was seen in numerous Hollywood productions. In "Love Me Tender – Powdered Vapor and Hot Songs" even alongside Elvis Presley (1935-1977). He turned his back on acting early and was only sporadically seen in productions since the 1970s, including three episodes in the cult series "Walker, Texas Ranger" with Chuck Norris (80) in 1993.
