James Hampton is dead. The director, screenwriter and actor, known from “Teenwolf” or “The Hardest Mile”, was 84 years old.

The actor, screenwriter and director James Hampton is dead. He died a report by the US industry website “The Hollywood Reporter” according to the consequences of a long-standing Parkinson’s disease in his Texan homeland Fort Worth at the age of 84. Hampton was known, among other things, from the sitcom “F Troup” and the film “The China Syndrome”. He also worked in the classic “Die härtste Meile” and its remake “Spiel ohne Regel” with Adam Sandler (54) and the horror comedy “Teenwolf”. In the latter film he played the father of the main character, played by Michael J. Fox (59).

Hampton had a close friendship with his colleague Burt Reynolds (1936-2018), with whom he worked repeatedly both in front of and behind the camera. The two first met in 1963 on the set of the western series “Smoking Colts”, followed by four joint film projects in the 1970s. Hampton also directed individual episodes of Reynolds’ sitcom “Daddy Makes Us All” and wrote some of the scripts.
