The American actor and voice actor James McCaffrey is dead. According to consistent media reports, the artist of Irish descent died of cancer at the age of 65. As first reported by the celebrity portal “TMZ”, a spokesman for McCaffrey announced that he died on Sunday surrounded by his friends and family. He was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a rare cancer that originates in the bone marrow.

His friend and colleague Kevin Dillon (58) also confirmed McCaffrey’s death. He shared a photo of himself and McCaffrey on Instagram and wrote: “We were lucky to know you my best friend, we will miss you.” The late actor was known thanks to numerous film and series engagements. He took on his first roles in the early 90s in series such as “Viper”, “New York Undercover” and “Swift Justice”. He was also seen in recurring roles in successful series such as “Sex and the City”, “Criminal Intent”, “Rescue Me” and “Beautiful People”.
