He doesn’t turn his heart into a den of murderers: James Middleton doesn’t have to maintain complete composure like his sister Catherine does – and he always gives an insight into his inner life. Now he shares an emotional, very private review of the year – and at the same time surprises with an ambitious plan.

The new year has rung in. time for James Middleton, 36, to take another look over his shoulder and take stock. The supreme discipline for the brother of Catherine, Princess of Wales, 41, because the entrepreneur knows how to put his feelings into words – and at the same time reveal his innermost being to the outside in an incredibly authentic and emotional way.

James Middleton talks about his grief

“The year started with unbearable sadness, Ella [einer seiner Hunde; Anmerkung der Redaktion] to lose. “Even though I knew her time had come, it took me a while to come to terms with the fact that she was no longer by my side,” he captioned two photos of him with his wife Alizée in his touching Instagram postThevenet , son Inigo Zulu and the remaining four-legged friends on a walk on the beach and two of the furry friends as sweet guardians of the beloved new addition to the family. “I know many of you who have also lost a dog will understand the grief that haunts you.”

The loss of his dog hit James hard. “It is with great sadness that I announce that my dear Ella has passed away,” he announced to his community on January 20, 2023. “For 15 years, Ella was by my side, from my darkest days to my happiest. I will miss her terribly.” He let his followers know that she had now died in his arms after a short illness.

The animal had a special place in his heart, helping him through dark times like he did four years ago revealed in a BBC interview in 2020. He revealed that the cocker spaniel even accompanied him to his therapy sessions. James suffers depressions. “I would even go so far as to say that I owe my life to Ella,” said the 36-year-old at the time.

“Absolute joy”

But 2023 also held an incredible ray of hope for Prince William’s brother-in-law, 41, after the death of the precious dog: “Later in the year my wife had one Alizée and I have the absolute joy of welcoming our first child Inigo into the world. Inigo has already found his place among the pack and giggles every time one of the dogs comes by to sit down next to us.”

Another high: His pet food business got a boost shortly after the happy family event: “A month later I have a new James & Ella range at Waitrose [britische Supermarktkette; Anmerkung der Redaktion] launched – and one of the last photos of me and Ella is now on store shelves across the country. It was a very proud moment when I took Inigo to our local store to see the product on the shelves for the first time.”

James is toying with a career as an author

And if you pay close attention to the first lines of his little message, James seems to want to set the course for moments of happiness in the new year. “I share many of my journeys – ups and downs – with you. Since it’s been such a reflective year, I put pen to paper, which was the best experience… so maybe a book next year???” It seems the youngest Middleton offspring now wants to go into writing. A non-fiction book about the four-legged friends he loves so much – or ultimately even a biography? It (still) remains his secret.

His last words go to those who accompanied his life with unwavering loyalty. “As I move into 2024, I promise to remain focused on my mission…To make every dog’s life as happy and healthy as they have mine.” A heartfelt slogan that probably causes his Ella to bark enthusiastically in agreement at the end of the heavenly rainbow bridge.
