Jan Böhmermann: He wants to stay true to his "dubious" way on ZDF too

Jan Böhmermann has found a new home on ZDF. But the fans don't have to do without his viciousness in the main program either.

So far, Jan Böhmermann (39) has mainly taken place in the specialty program of the ZDF channel and was largely free of fools. Whether in "Roche & Böhmermann" (ZDFkultur) or in "Neo Magazin" with its successor "Neo Magazin Royale" (both ZDFneo). With "ZDF Magazin Royale" the chief cynic will switch to the main program from November 6th. The satirist, who is known for his viciousness, does not get a muzzle there, as he has now assured in an interview with "Goldene Kamera", "TV Digital" and "Hörzu".

It will be "anti-communist, deeply reactionary frontal teaching against the Eastern Bloc with loose comedy elements," promises Böhmermann. After all, he was "not a permanent employee of ZDF, but a free person and artist. (…) I'm just a dubious comedian, and ZDF will be able to get over the fact that I will no longer be bishop of Mainz in my life"

Regarding the concept of the show, Böhmermann reveals that they deliberately want to deal with other focuses than the satire format "heute-show", which can also be seen on ZDF. The "ZDF Magazin Royale" instead "revolves around what will occupy us as key topics in the next few weeks. We prepare future topics in such a way that they are fun and bring something." The new show will be shown from November 6th on every Friday at 23:00 and thus directly after the "heute-show".
