Hamburg could soon have a Jan Fedder Promenade. The proposal of his widow Marion is currently being examined by the authorities.

Great honor for the late actor Jan Fedder (1955-2019). His hometown Hamburg is probably planning a place on the Elbe promenade, between Landungsbrücken and Baumall, to be named after him. The partially redesigned 800-meter-long boulevard has not yet been named. As reported by the NDR, among others, both the Senator for Culture Carsten Brosda (46, SPD) and the Interior Senator Andy Grote (52, SPD) support Jan Fedder's widow's proposal.

No other place in Hamburg would be so representative of his life, said Marion Fedder (54) according to the report. His parents' pub was here, he grew up there, grew up on the edge of the harbor, turned and it was his favorite place to the end. However, there are still some official hurdles to be overcome before a Jan Fedder Promenade actually comes about.

Before the end of the year, the promenade will in all likelihood remain nameless, because naming the deceased should usually be made two years after their death at the earliest. The Hamburg veteran Jan Fedder died on December 30th, 2019. He became famous primarily for his portrayal of the police officer Dirk Matthies in the cult series "Großstadtrevier".
