Jan Fedder: Mailbox set up at his grave for last regards

Fans of the late Jan Fedder (1955-2019) can now say goodbye to the popular actor with a few personal words. As previously announced, his widow Marion (54) had a large cast-iron mailbox labeled "Post for Jan Fedder" set up in the Ohlsdorf cemetery in Hamburg, the last resting place of the "Großstadtrevier" star. Fans have been able to inject mail to Fedder and his family there since the weekend.

"One can greet him again, his last words," said Marion Fedder in an interview with the private broadcaster RTL before the plans. In addition to the mailbox, the tomb was also fenced and provided with a cast iron arch. Marion Fedder had decided to take this step because the rush to the monument from 1899 had recently been very large. The countless fans who wanted to put flowers or candles had badly affected the flowers and the area around the grave.

Previously, the grave had only been protected with a chain. In addition, a sign with the inscription "I sleep. Please do not disturb. Please put your flowers and candles in front. The room in front of the monument belongs only to me (…) do not enter !!! Thank you! Your Jan".

Jan Fedder died on December 30, 2019 at the age of 64. How many letters have been thrown in so far is not known. If you don't want to travel to Hamburg, you can send your last greetings by post, according to Norddeutscher Rundfunk. The address is: Jan Fedder, Friedhof Ohlsdorf, Fuhlsbüttler Straße 756, 22337 Hamburg.
