For her 55th birthday there is a big auction at Janet Jackson. One jacket alone sold for over $ 81,000.

Under the title “Iconic Treasures”, the Californian auction house “Julien’s Auctions” is currently organizing an auction of costumes, clothes, objects, accessories and jewelry by US singer Janet Jackson (54). The pop icon and sister of Michael Jackson (1958-2009) celebrates her 55th birthday on Sunday (May 16) and is apparently banging out on the occasion. The Beverly Hills auction is scheduled for three days and has been running since Friday.

Particularly spectacular: A black, cropped, military-style jacket that Jackson wore on her legendary “Rhythm Nation” tour in 1990, went for $ 81,250. As a result, the jacket was auctioned for about twenty times higher than expected: the auction house estimated the jacket at 4,000 to 6,000 US dollars (about 3,300 to 4,900 euros). A Prototype of the jacket was auctioned for US $ 21,875, with an estimate of US $ 1,000 to US $ 1,500.

A Earring with a pendant in the shape of a key went for 43,750 US dollars (about 36,000 euros), the price was previously estimated at 4,000 to 6,000 US dollars. Janet Jackson wore this on her “Rhythm Nation” tour in 1990. A part of the auction proceeds goes according to “Julien’s Auctions” to the non-profit organization Compassion International, which works against child poverty and for humanitarian aid.
