“We are experiencing a violent corona wave”

At the same time, Dahmen dampened expectations of the reports expected for today from the expert committee for the evaluation of the corona measures. This will provide a good basis for further political consultations. “But I believe that there can be more legal information there about the legal architecture of the Infection Protection Act,” he said. The scientists had already shown skepticism in advance as to whether conclusive assessments would be possible with the means available to the Commission. “Today, I rather expect indications of where further research is required when it comes to assessing the effectiveness of individual measures.”
“Need big vaccination campaign in summer”
Dahmen assesses the current corona situation as very critical. A violent wave is currently rolling, and the health system is under pressure. Dahmen nevertheless defended the end of the free rapid corona tests for everyone. The Minister of Finance has set a framework for the money that is available “in difficult times of many crises”. He considers paid tests for going to the stadium or going to the theater “a fair solution”.
For effective protection in a possible Corona fall, Dahmen called for a vaccination campaign this summer. It doesn’t matter whether the vaccines are already tested or new to Omikron. “The vaccines in the fall only protect if the last vaccination was not very long ago.” Therefore, you now need “a large-scale vaccination campaign” for all people over the summer in order to establish effective protection for the fall with a fourth vaccination.
