Jared Leto: The US actor slips into the shoes of Andy Warhol

US actor Jared Leto announces a new project. In his next film, he turns into pop art legend Andy Warhol.

Jared Leto (48, "Blade Runner 2049") is known for his versatility and unusual choice of roles. He has now spoken on Instagram with a promising announcement. In an upcoming film he slips into the role of the American pop art icon Andy Warhol (1928-1987).

"We miss you and your creative spirit"

"Yes, it's true, I'll play Andy Warhol in an upcoming film," wrote the 48-year-old on the social media platform alongside several photos of Warhol. He was very "grateful" for the opportunity and also extremely "excited", can be read in the post. Leto added a belated birthday greeting to the artist who died more than 30 years ago. "We miss you and your creative spirit," he wrote about Warhol, who would have celebrated his 92nd birthday on Thursday (August 6th).

Rumors have existed since 2016

He left it open whether the project, for which the singer of the band Thirty Seconds to Mars ("This Is War") will slip into the skin of Warhol, is a film biography. According to the British Daily Mail, rumors of this kind have been around for a good four years. At that time it was said that Leto would take on both the leading role and the role of producer in the film "Warhol".

Andy Warhol died in 1987 at the age of only 58. He became known to the general public for his colorful advertising creations for companies such as Coca-Cola. With these works he combined consumption and art for the first time. His pop art works by big stars – for example Marilyn Monroe (1926-1962) – are still considered cult objects.
