Jasmin Gerat: Why she lacks the "ramp sow gene" today

Premiere for Jasmin Gerat (41): The actress makes her debut in the "Croatia thriller" on Thursday evening. As the unconventional Commissioner Stascha Novak, she joins the team in "The Croatia thriller: dead girls" (March 12, 8:15 pm). For Neda Rahmanian (41), who shaped the popular crime series as headstrong Commissioner Branka Maric, "Dead Girls" is the last assignment in Split.

"It is a good feeling to get into a project that is of such a high level in terms of film," says Gerat in an interview with the news agency spot on news about her new job. It is not her first role as Commissioner …

Among other things, you have already stood in front of the camera for "Soko Köln" or the series "The Team" as commissioner. Did you particularly like this genre?

Jasmin Gerat: Apparently I bring something that others associate with a tough commissioner.

They replace Neda Rahmanian as the main investigator. How difficult is it to join an existing team?

Gerat: I had a lot of respect because the format really worked very well and Neda and her colleagues raised the bar. At the same time, it is a good feeling to get into a project that is of such a high level in terms of film and that gives me the chance to establish a completely new character with Stascha Novak.

How is "The Croatia Crime" different from the numerous other crime series on TV?

Device: What is special is its country-specific and cultural influences, through which all our criminal cases are shaped.

You actually have Croatian roots on your mother's side. Were you familiar with the country before filming?

Gerat: No, it was a premiere and I can't wait to get back to shooting in and around Split in three weeks.

How do you combine shooting in Split with your family life? You are not only an actress, you also have two daughters.

Device: Every project is a challenge and a balancing act, as is probably the case with most families. But it always works somehow and I am always fascinated that my organizational Tetris actually works!

You started out as a "Bravo TV" presenter, do you like to think back to that time?

Device: Yes, very much! It was a wild and exciting time that I experienced in a frenzy. That's why I particularly enjoy the musical 90s revival!

Are you annoyed when you are asked about it today?

Device: Sometimes! It could be because I've been telling journalists the beginning of my career for 26 years.

Would a moderation job still be an option for you 20 years later?

Device: If the coal is right … No, seriously – I love to be able to hide behind my characters and as an adult woman I simply lack the ramp sow gene that you need to entertain on stage as an alpha animal .

You have long since established yourself as an actress in cinema and TV. How difficult was it initially for you to gain a foothold as an actress?

Device: My grandma said: Jassy, with patience and spit this will be something! I am grateful that I was able to pursue my own path undeterred and that I am trusted to play ever more exciting roles.

Is there a role you absolutely want to play?

Device: There are primarily directors with whom it would be a dream to work. To name just two: Fatih Akin and Doris Dörrie.
