Jason Biggs was supposed to play Ted Mosby in "How I Met Your Mother", but he turned it down – not a good decision as he says today.

US actor Jason Biggs (42, "American Pie") was offered the role of Theodore "Ted" Evelyn Mosby on the TV sitcom "How I Met Yout Mother" (2005-2014). But he refused, which he ultimately regretted, as he admitted during his appearance on "The Covino & Rich Show".

He gave the reason somewhat meekly. At the time, he was in a phase in which he was not interested in a television production. Instead, he enjoyed working "a few months on a film" and then being able to take time out.

Suddenly everything was different

With him, too, pride came before the fall. "I turned down the role and very soon after that two things happened: first, the sitcom became extremely successful (…) and second, I suddenly thought: 'I want to do TV!'" It then took another four years, until he was seen in a television series, as he explained with reference to his involvement from 2013 to 2014 in "Orange Is the New Black" (2013-2019). In 2020 he played in the US sitcom "Outmatched – Alone Among Geniuses". However, the show was canceled after a season.

On the whole, he doesn't regret his cancellation of "HIMYM", because he is still here. "But yes, if I had to choose something that I would have liked to have done differently, I would certainly have accepted this role. Definitely."

With Alyson Hannigan in "American Pie"

Instead of Jason Biggs, US actor Josh Radnor (46) slipped into the role and celebrated a success for nine years together with Jason Segel (41), Cobie Smulders (38), Neil Patrick Harris (47) and Alyson Hannigan (46) the other.

Alyson Hannigan and Jason Biggs also appeared together in four "American Pie" films (1999, 2001, 2003 and 2012). Has she ever approached him about his role rejection? "We never really talked about it. I don't know if she knows, to be honest," Biggs replied on the talk show.
