Jason Derulo will be hosting a variety show on a Twitter stream promoting various Walmart products.

Jason Derulo (32) is now teleshopping on Twitter – you could say that.

To be more precise, the singer and rapper will host a livestream on November 28th (in Germany at 1:00 a.m. on November 29th) “Cyber Deals Sunday” on Twitterpromoting products from Walmart stores. Twitter describes the live stream as a “30-minute variety show that features electronics, housewares, clothing, seasonal decorations, surprise guests, and much more”. The weekend after Thanksgiving in the United States traditionally represents big sales.

Android users still have to wait

For Twitter, the live stream will be a kind of test run. Advertising images show how Twitter imagines the shopping stream: The interface is divided into a video live stream, an online catalog and a tweet feed. If you follow a link to the retailer’s website, the stream continues in picture-in-picture mode. The shopping elements are initially only available on iOS and desktop. Android users can see the stream but cannot interact with its shopping features.

With the shopping livestream, the network joins a current trend in social media. This month, Metas Facebook also announced the test of a “Live Shopping for Creators” function, while Pinterest presented a live shopping series called “Pinterest TV” and YouTube introduced its livestream shopping feature around a week-long shopping event “YouTube Holiday Stream and Shop” has expanded.
