(Boursier.com) — JCDecaux SE presents its Climate Strategy which demonstrates its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint across its entire value chain. This strategy is based on 3 levers – Measure, Reduce and Contribute – and aims for Net Zero Carbon by 2050 (scopes 1, 2 and 3). It reinforces the Group’s ambition to pursue its commitment and active participation in the fight against climate change by adopting eco-responsible practices and promoting sustainable innovation in its business.

The objective of the strategy of the world number 1 in outdoor advertising is to align with the objectives of the Paris Agreement (limit the increase in the global average temperature to 1.5oC above pre-industrial levels ) and achieve Net Zero Carbon by 2050, taking into account the entire value chain of the company.

To achieve this, JCDecaux has planned to follow a Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) trajectory, based on scientific data. The Group has already submitted a letter of commitment to the SBTi at the end of 2022 and received the mention “Committed”, demonstrating that it is committed to a low carbon strategy. During 2023, JCDecaux plans to submit its reduction trajectory to the SBTi for review and validation.

The path to Net Zero Carbon by 2050 will be marked by intermediate stages.
– Objectives for 2030:
– reduce scope 1+2 (market-based) emissions by at least 60% compared to 2019.
– reduce scope 3 emissions by at least 46% compared to 2019.
Goals for 2050:
– reduce scope 1+2 (market-based) emissions by at least 90% compared to 2019.
– reduce scope 3 emissions by at least 90% compared to 2019.
This Climate Strategy is based on 3 complementary pillars: Measure, Reduce and Contribute.

“JCDecaux will continue to act with all of its stakeholders and to support public and private procurement players so that it is a massive and effective lever for sustainable development. Developed in a participatory manner within the Group, this Climate Strategy will be implemented and deployed on a daily basis by all of our employees and will be at the heart of our useful and sustainable business model”, says Jean-François Decaux, Chairman of the Executive Board and Co-Chief Executive Officer of JCDecaux.
