(CercleFinance.com) – JCDecaux announces that it recorded “very good performance” for its self-service bicycle systems (VLS) around the world in 2022, with total rentals up 21% compared to 2021.
In France, rentals increased by 14% compared to last year, indicates the specialist in urban advertising.
More than 755 million journeys have been made with the self-service bicycles operated by JCDecaux since their first deployment in Vienna (Austria) in 2003.
Some French cities have just regained levels equivalent to or higher than the pre-Covid period (notably in Toulouse with +2% rentals in 2022 vs 2019 and +14% vs 2021), other VLS systems recorded particularly exceptional in 2022.
JCDecaux points out in particular that after the previous record of 2021, VĂ©lo’v (the Lyon VLS service) recorded more than 10.5 million rentals during the year 2022, up 16%. This is therefore a new absolute record since the deployment of the service in 2005.
