JCDecaux: +21% self-service bike rentals in 2022

(CercleFinance.com) – JCDecaux announces that it recorded “very good performance” for its self-service bicycle systems (VLS) around the world in 2022, with total rentals up 21% compared to 2021.

In France, rentals increased by 14% compared to last year, indicates the specialist in urban advertising.

More than 755 million journeys have been made with the self-service bicycles operated by JCDecaux since their first deployment in Vienna (Austria) in 2003.

Some French cities have just regained levels equivalent to or higher than the pre-Covid period (notably in Toulouse with +2% rentals in 2022 vs 2019 and +14% vs 2021), other VLS systems recorded particularly exceptional in 2022.

JCDecaux points out in particular that after the previous record of 2021, Vélo’v (the Lyon VLS service) recorded more than 10.5 million rentals during the year 2022, up 16%. This is therefore a new absolute record since the deployment of the service in 2005.
