Jean-Charles Simon appointed General Delegate of Paris Europlace


(Boursier.com) — Jean-Charles Simon succeeds Arnaud de Bresson, creator of the association for the promotion of the French financial center and general delegate since its inception in 1993. His appointment was approved at the meeting of the Board of administration of Paris EUROPLACE of October 18, 2022 chaired by Augustin de Romanet, President of the ADP group and the association.

Jean-Charles Simon, 52, began his professional activity in the financial sector, at the general inspection of Banque Indosuez, then as a derivatives trader at Dresdner Kleinwort Benson. He worked from 1999 to 2010 within employers’ organizations, as advisor to the president and director of public affairs of the French Federation of Insurance Companies (FFSA), then as director of the French Association of Private Companies ( Afep) and finally to the general management of Medef. From 2010 to 2013, he was director of public and economic affairs at Groupama, then chief economist and director of public affairs and communication at Scor. He then founded Stacian, an economic studies consulting firm, and Deepvest, a wealth management support company. From 2018 to 2020, he was also executive director of the consulting group Optimind, of which he chairs the corporate foundation. Jean-Charles Simon is a graduate of Ensae-Institut polytechnique de Paris, ENSAI and Sciences Po Paris, and a certified mathematics teacher.

Paris EUROPLACE, the association serving the development and influence of the Parisian financial center in Europe and internationally

Since 1993, Arnaud de Bresson has contributed to the development and dynamism of the place, with the successive Presidents of Paris EUROPLACE – Ernest-Antoine Seillière, Marc Viénot, Gérard Mestrallet and, since July 2018, Augustin de Romanet.

The Association now brings together more than 700 industrial issuing companies, investors, banks and financial companies, law and consulting firms, French and international from the Paris market, and representatives of market authorities and public authorities. Paris EUROPLACE has succeeded in making Paris a financial center at the service of business financing, job creation and the preservation of the country’s economic sovereignty. Paris EUROPLACE has become the leading place in continental Europe, post-Brexit.

Paris EUROPLACE is currently developing three new structuring axes:
-Sustainable, environmental and social finance, with the launch of the international Climate Finance Day in Paris in 2015, then the creation of the Finance for Tomorrow branch in 2017, now transformed into the Institute of Sustainable Finance (IFD), chaired by Yves Perrier, to accelerate the action of the Paris marketplace in favor of carbon neutrality 2050, impact finance and biodiversity financing;
-Financial innovation and Fintech, with the creation of the Finance Innovation competitiveness cluster in 2008, which today hosts more than 500 innovative finance start-ups;
-Financing of major infrastructure projects: with the launch of the Paris International Infraweek in 2018, which demonstrates the position of Paris as a world leader in this sector.

Arnaud de Bresson, a course dedicated to the financial ecosystem

Founder of Paris EUROPLACE in 1993, Arnaud de Bresson has served as the Association’s general delegate since that date. In this context, he held responsibilities in several market initiatives and entities:
– CEO, then administrator, of the Institut Europlace de Finance (EIF), since its creation in 2004,
-Administrator of the Louis Bachelier Institute (ILB), which today federates the developments of research in finance on the Paris market,
-Administrator of Finance for Tomorrow, created in 2017, and of the Finance Innovation competitiveness cluster, created in 2008, branches of Paris EUROPLACE,
-Administrator of the AEFR (European Association of Financial Regulation), created in 2008,
-Administrator of the Émergence incubation fund, launched in 2012.

Arnaud de Bresson will continue his activity, in particular as Senior Advisor to the President of Paris EUROPLACE.
