After “OSS 117: Red alert in black Africa”, Jean Dujardin and Nicolas Bedos will soon be shooting together again with “Alphonse”, the first series directed by Nicolas Bedos.
“New and crazy adventure. Imminent filming”, Nicolas Bedos announced on his Instagram account on Tuesday, which for the first time is embarking on the production of a series. Good news shared simultaneously by his friend Jean Dujardin.
Written and directed by Nicolas Bedos – César for best screenplay in 2020 for “La Belle Époque” – based on an original idea by the latter and his friend Jean Dujardin, the series broadcast on Prime Video will bring together a five-star cast.
In addition to the interpreter of “The Artist”, who will reveal “all the variety of his talent”, according to a press release from Prime video, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Pierre Arditi and Nicole Garcia are credited to the casting. Produced by Alain Goldman, “Alphonse” will be broadcast in France and around the world from November 2023.
A plot still unclear
Little has so far filtered through on the plot of this original creation presented by the platform as “a journey through self-discovery, both delectable and irreverent”.
Jean Dujardin will however hold the title role and will slip into the skin of Alphonse. The 49-year-old actor will play a character “chameleon whose mission is to please women and satisfy all their desires”, however specifies Variety, relying on the revelations of producer Alain Goldman. “Alphonse will be a colorful show, with a very avant-garde and original story about the relationship between men and women that I think will resonate strongly around the world,” he said.
His story should however take place in Paris, as the poster unveiled on Tuesday suggests, but could also lead the characters to Nice, if we are to believe the hashtags shared by Jean Dujardin in his Instagram post. Filming is expected to begin in June.
