As his daughter, Marjorie Frantz, announced in a statement to AFP, the comedian died of "meteoric disease”. If her face seems familiar to you, her voice is familiar to everyone. A talented voice actor, he had lent his voice to some of the biggest stars of Hollywood cinema, as well as to the characters of our Disney and Pixar favorites: Cinderella (2nd dubbing in 1991), Kuzco, Monsters, Inc. The princess and the Frog or Rebel… A graduate of the National Conservatory of Dramatic Art in Paris, Jacques Frantz began his career on stage in 1969, in Shakespeare's most famous play: Romeo and Juliet. He worked for a long time under the direction of Robert Hossein, who passed away on December 31, 2020.

A few years later, in 1973, he landed the role of his life: to become the official French voice of Robert de Niro. In almost half a century, Jacques Frantz has indeed voiced the actor in 67 films! He was also the regular voice of Mel Gibson (in 34 films), Tom Selleck and John Goodman. On the side of his own appearances, the actor can be seen in The First Star, Arnacœur, or more recently The queens of the ring, alongside Corinne Masiero, Audrey Fleurot and Marilou Berry. On the small screen, Jacques Frantz had also appeared in the soap operas Julie lescaut or The little murders of Agatha Christie.

After the announcement of the death of Jacques Frantz, many tributes flourished on social networks. Among them, we find in particular the message of Jean Dujardin. “The beautiful human and beautiful artist he was … I will miss you my Jacques”, wrote the actor – who has just become a father for the fourth time – in the caption of a Jacques Frantz photo, shared on his Instagram account. The two stars had worked together in 2007, on the set of Counter-investigation. In the comments of the post, several celebrities also shared their grief: the actor Jose garcia, the columnist Valerie Benaïm, the former Miss World and politician Lisa Hanna, the actress Alice Belaïdi, the actor Gauthier Battoue … The actress Emilie Dequenne (recently awarded at the César) also shared a comment: “How I remember him when we met on the set ofA maid with Claude Berri and Jean-Pierre Bacri. What a delicious man, what a marvelous actor! How sad ! Have a nice trip Jacques ”, she wrote.
