Jean-Hugues Anglade: his painful secrets about the state of health of his father who no longer recognizes him

Thursday April 14, 2022, Jean-Hugues Anglade confided in the columns of Gala on the state of health of his parents, aged 95 and 96 respectively.

Jean-Hugues Anglade lived through a complicated period after the death of his friend, director Jean-Jacques Beineix, on January 13th. It was he who revealed it in 37°2 in the morningin 1986. In an interview with Gala and published on April 14, 2022, he returned to the onset of old age. “Jean-Jacques told me: ‘Be careful, from the age of 60, it’s really the toboggan, it goes very quickly’. Now I find out“.

The 66-year-old actor, who intends to be able to continue his profession the longest time possible, confided in his parents, who are now 95 and 96 years old. If he said he did not want “to leave so late“, it is because he suffers from seeing his father’s health deteriorate. “My mom is still very quick-witted, but my dad doesn’t recognize me anymore, doesn’t talk anymore, it’s really very painful for me” he explained, very saddened by the situation.

Jean-Hugues Anglade: “I thought my time had come”.

The one who received a César for his role in Queen Margot tries not to think about death, but is regularly confronted with it. After undergoing a rape at the age of 13Jean-Hugues Anglade was assaulted in the street by a homeless couple in 2005 then escaped death during the Thalys terrorist attack in 2015.

From traumatic events for the actor and father of Pierre-Louis and Emile. “I don’t know why life put this on my path… when there was the physical assault, as unexpected as it was violent, I thought my time had come. In the Thalys, I thought that my boys, my then girlfriend and I were going to die” he said. However, this proximity to death through these dramas has not changed Jean-Hugues Anglade who does not consider himself a “someone more optimistic, fatalistic or philosophical” he concluded.
