Jean-Jacques Bourdin: at the request of management, he temporarily withdraws from the antennas of BFMTV and RMC

In the turmoil since the accusations of attempted sexual assault by a former collaborator, Jean-Jacques Bourdin temporarily withdraws from the antennas of BFMTV and RMC.

The Altice Media group, parent company of BFMTV and RMC, announced this Sunday, January 23, the temporary withdrawal from Jean Jacques Bourdin accused of sexual assault. “This temporary withdrawal from the antenna will make it possible to avoid political and media manipulation of this affair. This decision was taken so as not to harm the daily functioning of BFMTV and RMC”, can we read in the press release which specifies in the preamble that this withdrawal is carried out “at the request of management”.

On January 18, the Paris prosecutor’s office opened an investigation against the star presenter of the channel, after a complaint was filed by a former BFMTV journalist. The latter reported facts that allegedly occurred in October 2013, during a business trip to Calvi, in Haute-Corse. The complainant recounts that one morning, between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m., while she was bathing in the swimming pool of her hotel, Jean-Jacques Bourdin came up to her in the water, grabbed her and tried to kiss her repeatedly. “I always get what I want”, would have told him in particular the presenter. “I lived this last sentence as if he was warning me that sooner or later he would have what he wanted” and “as a threat from someone who had a hierarchical ascendancy over me”, explains the complainant. For his part, Jean-Jacques Bourdin has always denied the charges against him.

Yannick Jadot cancels his interview with Jean-Jacques Bourdin

But this case had a resounding echo, even within the political class. This Tuesday, January 18, Valerie Pécresse was invited for a major interview on the BFM TV antenna. Faced with Jean-Jacques Bourdin, she wanted to emphasize in her introductory remarks that she had “clearly posed the question”, because of the investigation targeting the journalist, but that she had finally come by “respect” of the presumption of innocence. The LR presidential candidate, however, promised that “the law of silence is over”. The green candidate Yannick Jadot, who was to grant an interview to the journalist this Friday, January 21, decided to cancel his visit.
