This Sunday, November 26, Jean-Jacques Bourdin’s father-in-law was notably present on the set of CNews to express his views on the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. As evidenced by the Instagram publication of his daughter, this Monday, November 27.
“Last night, while I was at LCI, I discovered that my father, 88 years old, passing through Paris, was invited on CNews to talk about Russiaof course, or rather, as my father wishes today, from the disaster of this war and the identity of Ukraine”she wrote in the caption of an excerpt from her father’s speech. “Jhe shares with you these few seconds of his father’s immense erudition“she added, before concluding: “My parents both passed on to me curiosity and open-mindedness towards different cultures, particularly Russian culture.”

Georges Nivat: zoom on his career
After his secondary studies, Georges Nivat entered the École Normale Supérieure and obtained a degree in Russian from the Sorbonne, as well as a degree in English. Thanks to this course, he then began an internship at Lomonossov University in Moscow in 1956 before spending a year at St Antony’s College in Oxford. Expelled from the USSR in 1960, he carried out his military service in Algeria then in France, two years later. The future father-in-law of Jean-Jacques Bourdin was then appointed research assistant at the University of Toulouse then at the University of Lille, as well as a lecturer at the University of Paris-X. It was not until 1985 that he was became a researcher at the Russian Research Center at Harvard University then to the Hoover Institution at Stanford.
