Jean-Jacques Bourdin has been in turmoil for several months following revelations from the Parisian. The newspaper had relayed the testimony of a journalist accusing him of attempted sexual assault. Facts that allegedly took place nineteen years ago and the presenter is the subject of an internal investigation within BFMTV and RMC. Last January, the band first announced that they were “temporarily dismissed” from the antenna. A few months later, it is a radical decision which was announced this Friday, June 17. Sacked, Jean-Jacques Bourdin quickly reacted on his Twitter account. “21 years of success on #RMC #BFMTV #RMCD“, he first recalled before adding: “We part, I’m so happy to be released, I’m leaving for new adventures and I’ll never forget those who accompanied me“. Subsequently, he adds: “Long live free and independent journalism!!“. A news that seems to delight him.
The sentence fell this Friday, June 17 since Jean-Jacques Bourdin will not return to the antenna of BFMTV, nor to that of RMC. A news announced by the Altice group through a press release. “Due to the events that occurred and were brought to the attention of the Management during the year 2022, the Management has decided to put an end to the employment contract of Mr. Jean-Jacques Bourdin and thus cease all collaboration”, we could read. Last January, he was temporarily removed from the air so as not to “harm the daily operation of BFMTV and RMC. This temporary withdrawal from the antenna will make it possible to avoid political and media manipulation of this affair.“, assured the group. For his part, the principal concerned had deplored this decision. “I regret the unilateral decision of the BFMTV and RMC group to withdraw me from the antennas to prevent the risk of instrumentalization of the complaint of which I am the subject“, he had declared, regretting”that the principle of presumption of innocence be ignored“.

According to the words of the alleged victim, the facts would have taken place in 2013 at the edge of a hotel swimming pool during a press trip to Corsica. She had specified that the journalist would have tried to kiss her by force. Jean-Jacques Bourdin spoke: “I know this person, and I worked with her. I admit to having bathed with her in the swimming pool of this hotel”, he said before firmly denying the facts. “But I never tried to forcefully kiss her or anyone else.” In April 2022, the complaint filed by the journalist had was dismissed without further action by the Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office, for “prescription of public action“. The reporter then had “denounced the public instrumentalization of this procedure and deplores the serious attacks on my personal and professional lives”we could read.
