Jean-Marc Reiser condemned: this fear of the family of Sophie Le Tan which is confirmed


On Tuesday July 5, 2022, the Bas-Rhin Assize Court sentenced Jean-Marc Reiser to life imprisonment with a security period of 22 years, for the assassination of Sophie Le Tan.

After a week of trial, the Bas-Rhin Assize Court delivered its verdict in the Sophie Le Tan case on Tuesday July 5, 2022. It sentenced Jean-Marc Reiser to life imprisonment with a 22-year security periodfor the murder of the young student in 2018. Faced with this decision, the 61-year-old man who has always denied premeditationremained impassive.

Thursday, July 7, 2022, the case knew a new twist. Jean-Marc Reiser’s lawyer, Me Pierre Giuriato confirmed to France Blue Alsace that his client appealed civil and criminal provisions of the judgment of the Assize Court. The man with a very heavy criminal record had 10 days to announce his decision to appeal.

Jean-Marc Reiser’s decision is not a surprise for his lawyers

Following Me Pierre Giuriato’s announcement, another lawyer for Jean-Marc Reiser spoke. Indeed, Me Francis Metzger explained: “I don’t take it as a surprise“. He then confided in the second trial. According to him, it should take place in Colmarbefore July 8, 2023.

For his part, the lawyer for the family of Sophie Le Tan, Me Laurent Tran Van Mang explained that the family of the victim knew that the man already sentenced seven times could appeal. He stated : “We expected it. Now, the hardest part will be to announce it and explain it to the family. I’m going to call them to explain to them that it does not change the conviction of Tuesday“. He then confirmed that he would be present during the appeal to defend the parents of Sophie Le Tan.
