Jean-Marie Bigard fined heavily for posting stolen nude photos

A salty addition. This Thursday, October 7, the editor of Jean-Marie Bigard’s review, Bigard Magazine, was ordered to compensate Jennifer Lawrence up to 20,000 euros. The reason ? The publication of five nude photos of the American actress, which had been stolen in 2014 by a hacker. In this special issue broadcast on July 22, the French comedian comments in a very gritty way, photos of naked women.

According to the court document to which had access Le Parisien, the judge took into account the “Moral prejudice suffered (by the actress) as a result of the violation of her privacy and of the right she has over her image”. He specifies that the “Only element of reduction of the damage is due to the modest distribution of the magazine”. Indeed, 2,561 copies of this special edition were sold at a price of € 4.90. An element that justice took into account in its verdict.

Photos stolen in 2014

Jennifer Lawrence’s lawyer, Maître Vincent Tolédano, welcomed this judicial decision. “The high amount of compensation awarded testifies to the indignation aroused by this publication and should dissuade anyone who might be tempted to reproduce these stolen images”.

The five intimate photos of the “Hunger Games” actress had been stolen by Edward Majerczyk, an American hacker in the summer of 2014. He had accessed the iCloud accounts of about thirty celebrities such as Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Kate Upton or Jennifer Lawrence; and had shared photos showing them naked. These personal snaps were primarily intended for their boyfriend. In January 2017, the 29-year-old haker was fined $ 5,700 and nine months in prison for the celebgate affair.
