Jean-Michel Blanquer announces 200,000 saliva tests per week in schools

The Minister of National Education gave further details on the massive screening which will be organized in the various schools thanks to saliva tests from the start of the winter holidays.

At the beginning of the month, the Minister of Health Olivier VĂ©ran announced massive screenings in schools and universities through saliva tests. He said then that the government intended to achieve "several hundred thousand tests ".

Asked about BFMTV this Saturday, Jean-Michel Blanquer gave some details on this subject. "There are few things that change in September precisely because we want to stabilize the rules" insisting on the fact that "for the moment, we are on a stabilization of the rules" of the health protocol. There should therefore be no further relaxations when pupils and teachers in zone A will return from their vacation on Monday.

Saliva tests will begin in schools as soon as the winter break begins. The Minister of National Education assured that "https://www.aufeminin.com/"between 50,000 and 80,000 tests " will be made "from next week", to reach the 200,000 tests per week. "With saliva tests, we think almost everyone will agree to be tested", assured Jean-Michel Blanquer. Indeed, the saliva test is a good way to avoid"the swab in the nose " of the current PCR test. "We will go primarily to primary school", he added. The pupils of zone A will return to the school benches from this Monday February 22, while for those of zones B and C, will return on March 1 and 8.

At the start of the week, the Department of National Education implemented a relaxation of the rules of the health protocol requiring the closure of class in the event of contamination by the British variant. This is far from unanimous and has provoked the anger of several unions. Currently, if three positive cases for the English variant lead to the closure of a class and education personnel are no longer systematically considered as contact cases, in the presence of positive pupils. On the other hand, Jean-Michel Blanquer explained that the presence of a single case of the South African or Brazilian variant, more virulent, could lead to the closure of an establishment.
