LONDON, July 21 (Reuters) – French electronic music pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre has sold his entire music publishing catalog to BMG, the company of German group Bertelsmann announced on Thursday.

The amount of the transaction is not specified.

BMG thus granted itself the rights to the albums “Oxygène” and “Equinoxe”, published in the 1970s.

“Jean-Michel Jarre is not only a pioneer of electronic music, he is a polymath and a brilliant ambassador of culture and internationalism,” said Hartwig Masuch, CEO of BMG.

Jean-Michel Jarre, who has sold 85 million records, welcomes “a new start” to “develop new ideas” and “explore new territories.”
