Jean-Paul Paloméros on the war in Ukraine: “in 2014, we looked away (…) We must not repeat history”

Guest of Laurence Ferrari in the Morning of CNEWS this Monday, May 9, Jean-Paul Paloméros, former Chief of Staff of the Air Force, returned to the war in Ukraine, drawing a parallel with the annexation of Crimea in 2014.

The invasion of Ukraine by Russia constitutes a “redefinition of the architectures of security, and even, of European balance. You have to take it as such,” he continued. And to point out: “We are stronger today than we were at the end of the war of 45 and even in 2014”.

“A new way of seeing Europe”

According to Jean-Paul Paloméros, “we must approach the future, despite everything, with confidence”, because today Europe is more solid, “more robust than ever”, NATO brings together 30 countries and has “capabilities absolutely extraordinary”.

“We are not in the short term, it’s a new way of seeing Europe, with a new architecture that is emerging, a kind of new cold war”, he also assured during the ‘maintenance.
