Jean-Philippe Gatien leaves the organizing committee

Former Olympic table tennis medalist Jean-Philippe Gatien, one of the executives of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee (Cojop), is leaving the committee ” for personal reasons “ eighteen months from the event. He is replaced by Aurélie Merle, director of sports competitions.

Former champion, silver medalist at the Barcelona Games in 1992, 54 years old, Jean-Philippe Gatien had been present since 2014 and “the beginnings of Olympic ambition” of the French capital. He had been director of sports since the creation of the Cojop. “He structured the sports programming and strengthened the links with the entire French and international sports ecosystem of Paris 2024”recalls the Cojop.

The previous departure of a major Paris-2024 executive dates back a little less than a year, when Marlène Masure, director of partnerships, left for TikTok France. She too was replaced internally. The last appointment dates back to November 2022, when Edouard Donnelly, from the world of events, was recruited as executive director of operations.
