Jean-Vincent Placed indicted for “sexual assault”


The former Secretary of State of François Hollande has been heard since Monday morning for acts of harassment and sexual assault denounced by a former collaborator.

Jean-Vincent Placed will therefore again have to deal with justice. The former environmentalist secretary of state Jean-Vincent Placé was indicted on Tuesday evening for “sexual assault” and “sexual harassment” after 24 hours in police custody, said a judicial source. “Jean-Vincent Placé was indicted on counts of sexual assault by a person abusing the authority conferred by his function, sexual assault, and sexual harassment by a person abusing the authority conferred by his function” details this same source when a complaint had been filed against him by an ex-collaborator in November for “harassment” and “sexual assault”. Complaint which led to the opening of a preliminary investigation.

Snippets of the denounced facts were mentioned for the first time in 2018 by Release : during a trip to Rome, Jean-Vincent Placé would have “ordered to dance a slow” with centrist senator François Zocchetto. A year later, she testified anonymously on France 3, indicating that the former UDI mayor of Laval had “gripped”,pressed against him” and put a “low hand behind the back”. “I feel my chest against his throughout the duration of the song and it is extremely long, it is humiliating, repulsive and it is completely unworthy of the behavior of an elected representative of the Republic”, specified the thirty-year-old at the end of 2019 on the investigative program Further investigation.

François Zocchetto had given up representing himself in the municipal elections, presenting his “excuses» for his “lack of restraint” because he had nodid not dare to resist the injunction” of Jean-Vincent Placé whom he accompanied, whiledenying any reprehensible behavior”. More generally, the accusations of his former collaborator relate to the period 2012-2016.

Already sentenced in 2021 for sexual harassment

At 54, Jean-Vincent Placé is not his first setbacks with the law. In March 2021, the former leader of EE-LV was fined 5,000 euros for acts of sexual harassment dating back to 2016. That year, on the evening of October 25, the ecologist, at the Secretary of State and senator tried to kiss a gendarme assigned to his security in front of his home in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. According to the worldwho was then a senator “invites him to follow him” throwing him : “Come with me and you will see, it will be nice.” The gendarme had then warned his superiors without things going any further at the time. The victim finally decides to file a complaint in 2020.

Three years earlier, in 2018, Placed had also been given a three-month suspended prison sentence and a fine of 1,000 euros for “violence and outrage” by the Paris Criminal Court. Drunk, on the night of April 5, the former Secretary of State for State Reform and Simplification asked a young woman to dance with her friend “for remuneration” and wiping a refusal Place would then have taken her by the arm and insulted her. To the doorman, who politely asked him to leave, the ecologist would have replied: “We’re not in the Maghreb here, you don’t know who I am, I’m going to take you to Africa, me, you’ll see” or “We are not in Ouagadougou, Ryanair is promoting. […] The price of my shirt is a full RSA for your family.” Jean-Vincent Place “dispute the facts”, said his lawyer, Lisa Janaszewicz, on Wednesday.
