Jean-Vincent Placed: the former Secretary of State in police custody for sexual assault


Since Monday, March 28, Jean-Vincent Placé has been in police custody. The former secretary of state is accused of sexual harassment and sexual assault by one of his former collaborators.

According to information from Parisian, Jean-Vincent Place is in custody since Monday, March 28 in the premises of the Brigade for the repression of delinquency against persons in Paris.

In November 2021, a complaint had been filed by a former employee against François Hollande’s former secretary of state. A preliminary investigation had been opened by the Paris prosecutor’s office for acts of “sexual harassment” and “sexual assault”entrusted to the BRDP.

The facts allegedly occurred between 2012 and 2016. The complainant explained that she had been repeatedly subjected to inappropriate behavior by Jean-Vincent Placé, particularly when traveling abroad. During a trip to Rome in Italy, for example, she would have been forced to dance a slow dance with him. She also mentioned other events that allegedly took place in Seoul, South Korea, during another ministerial trip.

Jean-Vincent Placed already sentenced for acts of sexual harassment

Jean-Vincent Placed had already been sentenced to a fine of 5,000 euros and 2,000 in damages in March 2021 for acts of sexual harassment. In 2016, the former member of EELV had tried to kiss a gendarme responsible for guarding the official building in which he was housed.

He was also implicated in September 2018 for “violence and outrage”, after having annoyed and pushed a woman and insulted the police at a party. Jean-Vincent Placé was finally sentenced to three months in prison suspended and 1000 euros fine.
