This Tuesday, February 27, Jeanfi Janssens spoke in the pages of Tele-Leisure to promote his new show, Fell from the sky, which he plans to play until the end of next March, at the Grand Point Virgule. During the discussion, the man who was a steward at Air France before embarking on a career as a comedian spoke about the dazzling success he has experienced in recent years. “I’m very happy with that, but, at the same time, It had a destabilizing side because everything around me changed suddenly.. My entourage, my benchmarks, my professional environment…” he said before adding: “I found myself at the Grand Point Virgule while I was in a small room with 60 seats that I was struggling to fill.”
But if this change in pace of life was destabilizing for Jeanfi Janssens, it was unbearable for one of his loved ones. Because of the notoriety, the comedian actually experienced a romantic breakup. “I was in a relationship and my boyfriend couldn’t stand this spotlight and left me. It was a real emotional lift: I found myself on stage with people shouting ‘Jeanfi, Jeanfi!’ and I was going home alone, he had [emporté] the furniture and he had left the cat, it was very strange”, explained the actor, still upset. And to continue: “I was experiencing something great in the life of an artist, but in my private life, it’s a desert.“
Jeanfi Janssens looks back on his notoriety : “My mother became the star of her village”
During his appearance on the show Telematinbroadcast on France 2 on February 22, Jeanfi Janssens had already spoken about his relationship to notoriety. “It’s a bit isolating as a star“, the former steward then regretted in all frankness, before revealing with humor that it was something else for the woman who gave him life: “My mother became the star of her village ! To go to the butcher, she puts on her gala dress.”
