Jeanny – The fifth girl: Falco hit inspired the TV thriller

The scandalous song "Jeanny" by Falco from the 80s provides the template for the Austrian TV thriller "Jeanny – The Fifth Girl".

Falco (1957-1998, "Rock Me Amadeus"), known for his provocative songs, caused a tangible scandal in 1985 with "Jeanny". Especially the ambiguous text and the accompanying video shocked the music world. This scope for interpretation has now inspired the scriptwriters Andreas Karlström and Thorsten Wettcke to write the TV thriller "Jeanny – The Fifth Girl". The shooting of the co-production by ORF and MDR has already started – the shooting will take place in Lower Austria. The acting ensemble includes Theresa Riess, Manuel Rubey (41), Patricia Aulitzky (41), Martin Brambach (52), Steffen Schroeder (46) and Martin Feifel (56).

The plot according to MDR: "For 13 years, young women have been disappearing in Mödling again and again. In this environment, out of fear and distrust, the 19-year-old student Jeanny (Riess), who has not really found her place in her family and society, learns , know the inscrutable tax advisor Johannes (Rubey). While she is dragged deeper and deeper into the vortex of her emotions, the climate in Mödling continues to worsen. To protect their daughters, the residents organize themselves in a vigilante group. Jeanny becomes increasingly insecure. Can she really trust Johannes? "

"Falco songs still alive today"

About the thematic discussion of Falco's title, MDR TV film director Jana Brandt says: "The Falco songs also had a strong impact on people in Central Germany in the 1980s and are still alive today. We are therefore very pleased that we are launching our exciting project, which was not least inspired by these songs, can now also be accompanied by Falco's songs. " The film will be shot until October 16, when "Jeanny – The Fifth Girl" will be broadcast is not yet known.
